Trauma-Resilient Leadership™
How lived experience is reshaping the way we lead.
A groundbreaking leadership book that challenges conventional assumptions and invites leaders to choose a different course. Written by Patty Bennett, MA, with a foreword by Dr. Gloria Mayfield Banks, this book reveals how lived experience shapes responsibility, power, and workplace culture through the S.H.I.F.T. Model®, offering a practical path for leaders and organizations committed to building trust, resilience, and lasting impact.
The Story Behind the Cover
An Art Form Built on Honoring What Was Broken
The cover of Trauma-Resilient Leadership™ was inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi, a practice in which broken fine dishes are repaired with precious metal such as gold rather than hidden or discarded.
Kintsugi does not erase the cracks. It honors them, recognizing that what has been repaired can become stronger, wiser, and even more valuable because of its journey.
This image reflects the central message of this book: our lived experiences, including adversity, hardship, and challenge, do not diminish our capacity to lead. When approached with awareness, resilience, and courage, they can reshape how we understand responsibility, power, and the way we lead at work.
The goal is not to return to who we were before. The goal is to become something stronger, more compassionate, and more impactful because of what we have lived through.

About the Author
Patty Bennett, MA
Patty Bennett is an international speaker, leadership consultant, educator, and creator of Trauma-Resilient Leadership™ , a practical approach to helping organizations build trust, resilience, and healthier workplace cultures.
For more than two decades, I have helped individuals, leadership teams, and organizations navigate challenges, strengthen workplace culture, and build environments where people can thrive.
My work is shaped by both professional expertise and lived experience. As a leadership consultant, educator, coach, speaker, and survivor leader, I understand that resilience is not built through pressure alone. It is built through awareness, connection, adaptability, and healthy leadership practices.
Today, I partner with organizations, leadership teams, and professionals through consulting, training, speaking engagements, and coaching to strengthen relationships, improve workplace culture, and develop leaders who create meaningful and lasting impact.
Whether I’m speaking on a stage, facilitating training, consulting with organizations, or coaching individuals, my goal remains the same:
Whether I’m speaking on stage, facilitating training, consulting with organizations, or coaching individuals, my goal is simple: to help people lead with greater awareness, build stronger relationships, and create lasting impact.
